چکیده
A case is reported where the use of i.v. disopyramide for a supraventricular tachycardia resulted in a more serious ventricular dysrhythmia giving hypotension and this probably contributed to the development of a myocardial infarction. Attention is drawn to the possible risk.

Electrophysiologic effects of disopyramide in patients with atrioventricular nodal dysfunction.
Seventeen patients with first-degree or Mobitz I atrioventricular (AV) block and narrow QRS complexes underwent electrophysiologic drug testing before and after i.v. administration of disopyramide. Disopyramide did not significantly change the mean sinus cycle length (895 +/- 131 vs 877 +/- 119 msec), mean maximal sinus node recovery time (1134 +/- 160 vs 1133 +/- 13 msec), mean atrial effectiv...
متن کاملFlecainide compared with a combination of digoxin and disopyramide for acute atrial arrhythmias after cardiopulmonary bypass.
Fifty six adult patients were randomised to treatment with flecainide (group 1, n = 29) or a combination of digoxin and disopyramide (group 2, n = 27) for acute atrial fibrillation and flutter after cardiac surgery. Intravenous flecainide was given as a 2 mg/kg bolus over 20 minutes followed by an infusion (0.2 mg/kg per hour) for 12 hours. Group 2 were given digoxin (0.75 mg) intravenously fol...
متن کاملSome cardiovascular problems with disopyramide.
Five patients with apparent adverse cardiovascular effects of disopyramide are reveiwed. Attention is drawn to the following problems. (1) A vagolytic effect may produce a sinus tachycardia with wide QRS complexes due to aberrant conduction or intraventricular block superficially resembling a ventricular tachycardia, or may allow increased transmission of an atrial tachycardia or atrial flutter...

infant would receive approximately 1.5 mg of disopyramide per day assuming a generous intake of 1 1 of milk. Even taking into account the two fold variability in breast milk levels of disopyramide reported by Barnett et al. (1980), the maximum amount of drug transmitted to the infant would be 3 mg/day (0.6% of the maternal dose). The manufacturer's product information recommends, on the basis o...
متن کاملAdverse hemodynamic effects of intravenous disopyramide compared with quinidine in conscious dogs.
Disopyramide resembles quinidine electrophysiologically, but its effect on left ventricular function has not been clarified. Twelve awake dogs were instrumented for measurement of cardiac output, left ventricular pressure and its maximal first derivative (dP/dt max), and left atrial and aortic pressures. Disopyramide or quinidine at identical, clinically relevant doses (1 and 5 mg/kg i.v.) was ...
